Today, I was at work and this guy came in wanting his bookshelves delivered.
So I told him the earliest, which was Monday. (we generally give people the day which is completely empty before allowing for exceptions that we can still fit into earlier slots)
He said that he would be flying off to America for 3 weeks on Monday. So I said, I’d see what I could do.
So I consulted the magical clipboard; which is the 1st step to obtaining a possible earlier delivery.
The other steps are:
1. If the planner is in (he’s the guy that decides which trucks are full and which arent. So if we can’t fit you in, screaming at me; won’t help you.
2.If you are polite enough to me to put in a good word for you
3.If you don’t sound like you are lying
(But, I digress)
LOW AND BEHOLD, there is ONE slot left for tommorow for the entire country.Which I give to him.
And he bursts into this smile and says “You know, I usually HATE shopping at IKEA, I hate having to go around and round to buy things. But today, the lady inside was so helpful and now you. THANK YOU!”
I dont even bother to explain to him that we arent actually part of IKEA anymore because I’m so glad that he’s having a good day. Things are usually not so smooth going for customers.
Lady luck must be shining on him. I hope it stays that way.
